Free QR code checker

Forever QR's checker reads a QR code from a photo or screenshot and shows exactly what's inside it. If it's a link, it tells you whether the link goes through a known short link or QR subscription service, the most common reason printed codes stop working. The image is read on your device and never uploaded.

Free, no signup. Made in your browser and never expires.

How to make one

  1. Open Check a code in Forever QR.
  2. Choose a photo or screenshot of the code, or drop or paste it.
  3. Read the result: where it points, and whether a short link service sits in the middle.

Why check your printed codes

Many QR makers put their own short link inside your code. Every scan goes through their server first, and if the subscription lapses or the company shuts down, the link stops redirecting and the printed code goes dead. Checking tells you whether your code depends on someone else's service.

If your code uses a short link

  1. Find the real destination, usually shown in that service's account.
  2. Make a static code that points straight at it.
  3. Replace printed materials as you reprint them.

What the checker can and can't tell you

It compares the link's domain with a list of known short link and QR subscription services. It doesn't follow redirects or judge whether a website is safe, so treat it as a first check, not a guarantee.

Questions

Is the image uploaded?
No. The code is read in your browser.
Is the checker free?
Yes.
Can it check codes in public places?
Yes. Take a photo, then check it before you open the link. It's a good habit with codes on parking meters and stickers.
