How much text fits
The largest QR code holds 2,953 bytes, but a code that full is very dense and hard to scan from a phone. Keep messages to a few hundred characters for codes that scan quickly. Letters outside basic English use more than one byte each.
Text or link?
Text is fixed and works offline. If the message might change, use a link code to a page you control instead.

- Do text QR codes need internet?
- No. The text is inside the code and appears on screen without a connection.
- Can I use other languages?
- Yes. Forever QR writes text as UTF-8, so any language and emoji work.
