Features
Free transparent background QR code generator
A transparent QR code has no background color, so it sits directly on your design, packaging or photo. Forever QR exports transparent PNG and SVG files for free and warns you when your colors don't have enough contrast, because the code still needs to be clearly darker than whatever it's placed on.
Free, no signup. Made in your browser and never expires.
How to make one
- Make your code, then switch on Transparent background.
- Choose a code color that is much darker than the surface it will sit on.
- Download PNG or SVG.
Rules that keep it scannable
- Dark on light. Most scanners expect a dark code on a light surface. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on many phones, and the Forever QR scan test flags it.
- Leave a quiet zone, a clear border about four modules wide, with no busy pattern behind it.
- Avoid placing it over photos with strong texture.
Questions
- Is a transparent background free?
- Yes.
- Why won't my white QR code scan on a black background?
- Many scanners only read dark codes on light backgrounds. Use dark modules on a light area instead.
