Free Wi-Fi QR code generator

A Wi-Fi QR code stores your network name, password and security type. When a guest points their phone camera at it, the phone offers to join the network, with nothing to type. Forever QR makes it in your browser for free, and because the details are written into the code itself, it keeps working for as long as your network name and password stay the same.

Free, no signup. Made in your browser and never expires.

How to make one

  1. Open Forever QR and choose Wi-Fi.
  2. Type the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on your phone, including capital letters and spaces.
  3. Type the password and pick the security type. Most routers use WPA2 or WPA3. Choose None only for open networks.
  4. Wait for Scans perfectly, then download a PNG, SVG or PDF and print it.

What's inside a Wi-Fi QR code

The code holds one line of text in a format that phone cameras recognize:

WIFI:T:WPA;S:Studio Guest;P:welcome2026;;
  • T is the security type: WPA (also covers WPA2 and WPA3), WEP or nopass.
  • S is the network name and P is the password.
  • H:true is added for hidden networks.

Semicolons, commas, colons, quotes and backslashes in a name or password must be escaped with a backslash. Forever QR does this for you, which is the most common reason hand-made Wi-Fi codes fail.

Which phones can scan it

iPhones running iOS 11 or later join from the built-in Camera app. On Android, most phones from Android 10 on can scan from the camera or from the QR icon in Wi-Fi settings, and some brands hand it to Google Lens. No app download is needed in either case.

Keep it safe

A QR code is encoded, not encrypted. Anyone who scans it, or photographs it, can read the password. Put it where only guests can see it, and use a guest network that is separate from the devices you care about. If you change the password, make a new code: a static code always holds the password you gave it.

Print size

For a counter or table card read from about 1 foot away, print the code at least 1.2 inches wide. For a wall sign read from 3 feet, aim for about 3.6 inches. The QR code size guide has the full table.

Questions

Does a Wi-Fi QR code expire?
No. The network name and password are stored in the code itself, so it works until you change the network name or password.
Does Forever QR see my Wi-Fi password?
No. The code is made in your browser. Your network name and password are never sent to our servers.
Can I make a code for a hidden network?
Yes. Turn on Hidden network and the code tells the phone to look for a network that doesn't broadcast its name.
Can I add my logo or a Wi-Fi symbol?
Yes, for free. Forever QR raises error correction automatically and limits the size so the code still scans.
